Native American designer Fritz Casuse studied sculpture and views his jewelry as "something you can walk through." Fritz's focus on balance and color and his attention to dimension makes each piece a work of art. His background as a sculptor is evident in the modern, asymmetrical design of these earrings that feature turquoise cabochons offset by sterling tubing for a contemporary Southwestern look. These turquoise dangle earrings measure approximately 2" long x 3/4" wide and have earwire backing. Made in the USA.
The turquoise in these turquoise dangle earrings is said to provide mental relaxation, stress reduction, confidence, attunement and physical balance. Attracts abundance and prosperity and aids in respiratory health. In the American West, turquoise was traded as currency among the pueblo Indians. In Native American lore, turquoise is referred to as the Sky Stone, representing the eternal heavens, the life giving sun, renewing rains. According to Navajo legend, the sun was created from a piece of turquoise, the moon from a piece of shell. Turquoise is the first recorded stone in history to be used as a gem and is the December birthday stone. Turquoise originates from North, South and Central America, Asia, The Middle East and Africa.
Fritz Casuse's natural artistic aptitude was honed at the Institute of American Indian Arts, where he studied sculpture. His award-winning creations highlight dimension and texture and focus on color and balance. He calls his jewelry "something you can walk through" and feature natural gemstones and sterling silver. Fritz teaches the next generation of Native American artisans at the Poeh Arts Center in Pojoaque, New Mexico, where he inspires students to experiment with progressive designs. These turquoise dangle earrings create a balance that express these inpirations.
Like all fine jewelry, Carolyn Pollack jewelry should be handled carefully. Store jewelry in a plastic bag, dry and wrapped in tissue paper, when not being worn or displayed. Clean sterling silver with a silver polishing cloth when necessary, but never subject to chlorine, silver dips, chemical solutions or ultrasonic cleaners, as these substances can cause the gemstones to discolor. Never wear jewelry in a swimming pool.
